Pike County's lush green pastures, red clay soil, rolling hills and valleys, magnificent springs and falls, and wonderfully mild winters make up part of the beautiful Piedmont Region of Georgia. Pike County Public Schools are accredited by the Georgia State Standards, Georgia Accrediting Commission, and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. "The Pike County Board of Education will provide a program for each child that will foster his self worth and nurture the belief that each individual has the potential to make a positive contribution to society. The educational goal of the Pike County Public School System is to provide full educational opportunities to all children in its jurisdiction." Pike County's recreation is centered around the family. Much interest, care, and concern has been given to the forming and playing of the children's teams of baseball, soccer, and football. We have two 18-hole golf courses, many horse stables, and several towns are host to fall and spring festivals. In addition, Pike County has been the site for the filming of several motion pictures, including Murder in Coweta County, Cold Sassy Tree, and Tank.
